Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) is considering a proposal to make the sacred Srivari gold and silver dollars available online, allowing devotees across the country to purchase the devotional tokens without visiting the temple town. The proposal aims to expand access to the revered pendants and coins associated with Lord Venkateswara while also boosting the temple administration’s revenue. Currently, these Srivari dollars are sold only at designated counters in Tirumala Temple.
According to officials, the idea emerged after recommendations from a finance committee formed to explore ways to strengthen the temple body’s income. The panel suggested expanding the sale of Srivari dollars, which are widely kept in devotees’ homes as sacred symbols of devotion and blessings.
Under the proposed system, devotees across India would be able to place orders through an online platform. The coins and pendants would then be delivered through the postal system with transit insurance to ensure safe transportation.
Temple authorities said special attention would be given to packaging and dispatch so that the sacred items reach devotees securely. The administration is also examining ways to improve the design and finish of the dollars while maintaining their traditional devotional significance.
Another proposal being considered is the introduction of gold-plated silver dollars. With the price of gold rising sharply in recent years, pure gold tokens have become expensive for many devotees. The proposed gold-plated silver version is expected to provide a more affordable alternative while retaining the spiritual value of the sacred tokens.
Officials said the initiative will be implemented once it receives formal approval from the TTD Board of Trustees. If approved, the move is expected to help devotees who cannot travel to Tirumala obtain the sacred tokens while strengthening the temple body’s revenue stream.
