Two Bangladeshi nationals were detained by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati after they were allegedly found carrying forged Aadhaar cards while preparing to board a flight to Mumbai, officials said on Wednesday.
The two have been identified as Rana Molla and Mafuja Akhtar Lima, both residents of Bangladesh.
According to officials, CISF personnel intercepted the duo during routine pre-boarding security checks at the airport's integrated terminal on Tuesday. During the verification process, security personnel allegedly recovered forged Indian Aadhaar cards and other documents suspected to be fake.
The two were immediately taken into custody and later handed over to Azara Police Station for further investigation.

Police have launched a probe to ascertain how the forged identity documents were procured, the purpose of their stay in India, and whether they were part of a larger network involved in illegal immigration or the preparation and use of counterfeit identity documents.
The incident comes days after another Bangladeshi woman was detained by CISF personnel at the Guwahati airport. She was reportedly intercepted after arriving in the city allegedly to meet her boyfriend, prompting security agencies to examine her travel documents and immigration status.
The latest detention comes amid intensified surveillance across Assam as the state government and central security agencies continue to crack down on illegal immigration and document fraud.
Authorities have stepped up checks at airports, railway stations and other transit points, while border security has also been strengthened to prevent unauthorised entry into the country. The use of forged identity documents has emerged as a key concern for security agencies, which have been conducting regular verification drives and intelligence-based operations across the state.
Police said further legal action against the two detainees would be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
