Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Monday after they were allegedly attacked and beaten by a group of locals.
The incident occurred around 1:30 am in Gujjar Basti Dwarkapuri in the Supwal area when an inspector and a sub-inspector had gone for an investigation.
While the duo was conducting routine operational procedures, the group of locals allegedly attacked and thrashed them, leaving both injured.
The injured personnel were later shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
They have been identified as Inspector Imtiaz and Sub-Inspector Devendra, both posted with the G-Branch of BSF Sunderbani.
It is not yet clear whether they were accompanied by additional force.
According to officials, the two had gone to the area to conduct a raid to recover drugs and were reportedly not in uniform at the time of the operation. Both officials are said to be in stable condition.
Police said they are awaiting a formal written complaint from the BSF before registering an FIR under the relevant sections of law.
