Two killed, three hurt in Chamoli accident

The accident happened near the power station on the Helang–Urgam motor road on Wednesday evening when a Sumo carrying five wedding guests, who were returning from Urgam, lost control and slipped into the ditch, police said.

Two people died and three others were hurt after their vehicle fell into a ditch in the Jyotirmath area of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, police said on Thursday.

 

The accident happened near the power station on the Helang–Urgam motor road on Wednesday evening when a Sumo carrying five wedding guests, who were returning from Urgam, lost control and slipped into the ditch, police said.

 

Dhruv and Kanhaiya, both 19, died on the spot, while Manwar, 28, and Puran Singh, 55, were pulled out of the ditch and taken to the hospital, police said, adding that all of them are residents of Sulad village.

 

The driver, Kamlesh, 25, a resident of Palla Jyotirmath, was also hurt in the accident, police said.
