Two high court lawyers drowned after their car lost control and fell into a pond in Lucknow, police said on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Kuldeep Kumar Awasthi (40) and Shashank Singh (37). Awasthi was a standing counsel for the government in the high court, and Singh was a brief holder, helping prepare legal documents for cases.
The accident happened on Friday night when their car, with the number plate UP 32 NE 1110, lost control and sank into a pond in the Chinhat area of Lucknow.
On Saturday morning, locals saw the car and called the authorities. Police and firefighters rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation. They pulled the car out of the pond, and during the process, they found the bodies of both lawyers.
The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and are investigating the incident.
