Authorities in Rajouri district revoked the licences of two medical stores over alleged violations of drug regulations, officials said on Tuesday.
The action was taken following intensive inspections conducted by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, to check the sale and distribution of habit-forming and other regulated medicines without valid prescriptions.
During the inspection, officials found serious violations and discrepancies at Hoewell Medicos in Kheora and Star Medicos in Gujjar Mandi, including the failure to maintain proper computerised sales records and alleged irregularities in the sale of habit-forming medicines.
Subsequently, the licensing authority revoked the retail drug sale licences of both establishments under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, pending further orders, they said.
The Deputy Commissioner said the administration has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards violations of drug regulations and warned of strict action against erring establishments.
