Security forces on Monday apprehended two suspected individuals amid intensified counter-terror operations across the Jammu region, officials said. The search operation also resumed in the snow-bound Chatroo forest belt in Kishtwar district to track down three suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists.

Security forces have engaged the terrorists on at least four separate occasions over the past two weeks.

The two suspected persons were apprehended by the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of the Army near their camp in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district around 10:30 a.m. and later handed over to the local police for questioning.

Security forces also observed suspicious movement in the Joffer area of the Ramnagar sector late on Sunday night and immediately dispatched a team to track the individuals in Marta, Kulthian, Sohan, Kheal, and Chour Mottu villages along the Ujh River. Officials said no suspicious persons were found during the operation.

According to officials, movement of suspected terrorists was also noticed in the Ramgarh forest belt in Udhampur district and the Kalas Tops in Rajouri district, where intermittent searches have been ongoing for the past ten days.

Cordon and search operations are underway in dozens of high-altitude areas in Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua, Doda, and Reasi districts as part of the ongoing counter-terror campaign in the Jammu division.

Meanwhile, the hunt for the three terrorists in Kishtwar district entered its 16th day on Monday, with security forces and police teams braving heavy snow to track the hiding militants. No fresh contact with the terrorists has been established after they fled from Dolgam village in Chatroo on January 21. Officials said fresh snowfall has further disrupted the cordon and search operation.

During the four confrontations, one Special Forces personnel was killed, while seven others suffered injuries. In the latest encounter, at least three more security personnel sustained bullet injuries, while the terrorists remain elusive in the dense, snow-covered forests.
