Jammu and Kashmir police apprehended two terror associates in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday. The arrest also led to the recovery of Rs 8.40 lakh from the two persons, along with arms and ammunition, officials said.
The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir police team had established a Naka near the Gundrehman Bridge, and during the routine checking, they arrested two associates, a senior police officer said.
The official added that there was specific Intel about the movement of some suspected individuals in the area, and the Naka was laid at a crucial location where these persons had no way to escape.
The police team intercepted a three-wheeler load Carrier (Auto) bearing registration number JK15B-7309.
“During the searches, the police officials found arms, ammunition and a huge quantity of cash hidden in the vehicle,” the officer added.
Among the recovered items was a Chinese-made pistol, one Magazine, four live rounds, and as many as two hand grenades, along with cash amounting to ₹8,40,500, he added.
Meanwhile, the arrested individuals have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Mir, son of Mohammad Subhan Mir, resident of Hajin, Bandipora district, and Shabnum Nazir, daughter of Nazir Ahmad Ganie, resident of Shalabugh, Ganderbal district.
The official added that a case under the UAPA, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal, while further investigation is underway.
