U’khand budget to reflect aspirations of all: CM Dhami

The Chief Minister said the budget would meet the expectations of the people. “The budget will be excellent and will fulfil the aspirations and hopes of the people. It has been prepared after a lot of effort and consultations with various stakeholders, groups and sections of society. Provisions have been made keeping every section of society in mind,” he said.

In Chamoli, as the Uttarakhand Budget Session begins on Monday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the state budget had been prepared after taking inputs from different sections of society. He expressed confidence that the budget would be comprehensive and beneficial for the people. After arriving at the Uttarakhand Assembly, Dhami spoke to mediapersons and shared his optimism about the budget.


The Chief Minister said the budget would meet the expectations of the people. “The budget will be excellent and will fulfil the aspirations  of the people. It has been prepared after a lot of effort and consultations with various stakeholders, groups and sections of society. Provisions have been made keeping every section of society in mind,” he said.

 

Dhami also said the government was ready to hold discussions with the Opposition during the session. “We are fully prepared for discussions. There will be as much discussion as possible,” he added.

 

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister paid a courtesy visit to Governor Gurmit Singh (retd) at Bhararisain (Gairsain). Parliamentary Affairs Minister Subodh Uniyal and several MLAs were present during the meeting. The Governor was also given a Guard of Honour by police personnel at the Assembly premises.


Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is set to create history by presenting the state budget in the Assembly on the same day as the Governor’s address.
It will also be the first time that Dhami will present the government’s budget in the Assembly in his capacity as the Finance Minister.

 

Compared to the previous year, the size of the budget for the financial year 2026–27 is expected to rise by about 10 per cent and reach around ₹1.11 lakh crore. In view of the session, security has been strengthened. The Assembly premises have been declared a high-security zone, with police personnel deployed at several points.

 

To handle any protests or disturbances outside during the Budget Session, police have set up temporary jails at the Primary School Mehalchauri and the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Malsi.

 

The Budget Session of the Uttarakhand Assembly will be held from March 9 to 13, 2026, at the Vidhan Bhavan situated in the state’s summer capital, Bharadisain (Gairsain).

 

Presenting the state’s Economic Survey earlier, Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram said Uttarakhand’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for 2024–25 was estimated at ₹3,81,889 crore, compared to ₹2.54 lakh crore in 2021–22, showing an increase of more than one-and-a-half times. Earlier on Sunday, Dhami also paid a courtesy visit to Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan in Bhararisain (Gairsain).
