Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday, where the two leaders held detailed discussions on key issues concerning the hill state’s unique geography and its susceptibility to natural disasters.

During the meeting, Dhami urged the Centre to ensure that the supply of commercial LPG cylinders remains at 100 per cent, as in previous years, to support the smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the Char Dham Yatra. He pointed out that the annual pilgrimage, held between April and November, draws lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad, significantly increasing the demand for commercial LPG. To meet this surge, the state requires nearly 9,67,949 cylinders during the yatra period.

Highlighting the challenges posed by the monsoon season from June to September, the Chief Minister noted that Uttarakhand frequently faces natural disasters during this time. Given the difficult terrain and logistical constraints, LPG becomes essential for disaster response and relief operations. In this regard, he requested an additional 5 per cent allocation—approximately 48,397 cylinders—to strengthen preparedness and ensure timely rescue and relief efforts.

Dhami also underlined that Uttarakhand’s economy is heavily dependent on tourism, particularly religious and adventure tourism, with the Char Dham Yatra forming a cornerstone of the state’s cultural identity and economic activity.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister conducted a public hearing at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office, Mukhya Sevak Sadan, where he listened to grievances brought forward by citizens from various parts of the state. He engaged directly with attendees, addressing several issues on the spot.

He directed officials to take prompt action on concerns related to roads, drinking water, healthcare, education, and financial assistance, stressing the need for time-bound resolutions. Dhami emphasised that unnecessary delays must be avoided and that all cases should be closely monitored to ensure effective outcomes.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to responsive governance, he said the aim is to make administration more sensitive, transparent, and accountable. He added that such public interactions serve as an important bridge between citizens and the government, helping resolve issues quickly while improving overall administrative efficiency.
