The Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) exam, originally set for October 5, has been postponed, officials said on Thursday.
The decision to delay the exam was made late Wednesday evening after requests from candidates and to allow the panel more time to strengthen its preparations, sources said.
The exam for Cooperative Inspector Class-2 and Assistant Development Officer, Cooperative, was scheduled for October 5.
Earlier, due to uncertainty after the alleged leak of three pages of a question paper from a Haridwar centre during the graduate-level exam on September 21, Chairman Ganesh Singh Martolia had said the recruitment tests for various government posts would be held on the previously-scheduled dates.
He had added that the commission’s preparations were complete and that arrangements had been further tightened this time.
A detailed review was held with district magistrates and senior police officials about biometric verification of candidates, searches, and installation of jammers at the exam centres, Martolia said.
This time, jammers will also be placed in washrooms, and candidates using them will be searched before leaving and after returning, he added.
Khalid Malik, the main accused in the graduate-level paper leak, told interrogators that he hid his mobile phone at a centre a day before the test. He photographed three pages of the question paper using the phone and sent them to his sister after going to the washroom.
Following the incident, the Uttarakhand Unemployed Association has launched a major protest, and the state government has recommended that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
