The Jharkhand Assembly witnessed intense uproar on Wednesday as BJP legislators protested over an alleged stone-pelting incident targeting a religious procession in Hazaribag.
The opposition members stormed into the Well of the House, demanding strict action against those responsible and stronger security measures during Hindu festivals to prevent such disturbances.
As soon as the Assembly convened for the day around 11 am, BJP MLAs raised the issue, seeking an immediate discussion. Ignoring repeated appeals from the Speaker to allow the Question Hour to proceed, they continued their protest, pressing the government for an official response.
Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi called the incident both serious and unfortunate. He questioned why such disruptions repeatedly occur during Hindu festivals but not during other religious events, alleging that such incidents embolden anti-social elements.
He urged the government to take swift and decisive action to prevent communal tensions from escalating.
Marandi also suggested the use of modern surveillance technologies, including drones and CCTV cameras, to identify individuals involved in acts of violence such as stone-pelting.
Responding to the uproar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Radha Krishna Kishore assured the House that the government was aware of the situation and had already initiated steps to address it.

He confirmed that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the incident and that appropriate legal measures would be taken against those responsible.
Kishore reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining communal harmony in Jharkhand and promised to provide further updates on the case during the second half of the Assembly session. Following his assurance, the House gradually resumed its scheduled proceedings.
According to police reports, the stone-pelting incident took place late Tuesday night around 11 pm near Jama Masjid Chowk in Hazaribag.
Tensions escalated when unidentified individuals allegedly hurled stones at a Mangla procession, a key part of the Ram Navami celebrations.
Hazaribag Sub-Divisional Police Officer Parameshwar Kamti confirmed the incident and stated that law enforcement agencies were monitoring the situation to prevent further unrest.
