Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil on Tuesday reviewed the progress of Namami Gange Programme projects in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, saying the mission aimed at ensuring a clean and uninterrupted flow of the Ganga River is showing tangible results.
Sharing details of the review on X, Patil said no polluted stretches were found in the main flow of the Ganga in Uttarakhand. He said efforts towards maintaining the river’s continuous flow, cleanliness, and conservation are moving ahead successfully. According to him, the absence of polluted stretches in the main channel of the Ganga in Uttarakhand is a major achievement.
During the review meeting, officials focused on fully intercepting drains flowing into the river in Uttarakhand, strengthening sewage treatment systems, and expanding infrastructure to meet future requirements, the minister added.
Patil also reviewed ongoing projects in key cities of Uttar Pradesh, including Kanpur, Prayagraj, and Varanasi. He said discussions focused on increasing sewage treatment plant capacity, intercepting drains, and diverting wastewater away from the river.
Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Choudhary also participated in the review meeting.
