Following a suspension of 16 days due to inclement weather conditions and repair work on the track leading to the holy shrine, the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra shall resume on Sunday, said the Shrine Board's official website on Friday. It said the yatra would only resume following favourable weather conditions.

Devotees are advised to carry valid identification, follow designated pathways, and cooperate with on-ground staff.

For live updates, booking services, and helpline support, devotees can visit the Shrine Board’s official website, “www.maavaishnodevi.org.”

The board expressed its sincere gratitude to all the pilgrims for their patience and understanding during the untimely suspension caused by the bad weather.

The resumption of the yatra marks a reaffirmation of our collective faith and resilience, and the Board remains committed to upholding the sanctity, safety, and dignity of this revered pilgrimage.

Earlier, the yatra was suspended on August 26 following a deadly landslide in the Adhkuwari region, killing 36 pilgrims and leaving 20 more injured.

The incident had triggered outrage after several media reports alleged that the Board had violated the weather advisory, leading to the fatal accident.

While the board immediately rebuked the claims, saying that the yatra was halted immediately after the advisory was received, the pilgrims who died in the accident had left hours before the yatra was halted.

Yet, the reports claimed that apart from the advisory issued by the MeT on August 26, there were previous advisories which suggested the likely occurrence of landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts at several mountainous areas of the Jammu division.

The yatra resumption will bring much-needed relief to the pilgrims who have been staying at the base camp for days to perform darshan at the shrine.
