As Shardiya Navratri concluded on Wednesday, a heartening revelation was made by the authorities with reagrd to increase in footfall of the pilgrims with over 1.70 lakh devotees said to have paid obeisance at the Mata Vaishno Devi temple during Navratri. All these days the jubilant devotees were seen coming in hordes with chants of ‘Jai Mata Di’ and bhajans echoing throughout Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi.

The pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Cave Shrine, which was scheduled to begin on September 14, remained suspended today for the 21st consecutive day from base camp Katra in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Even as Shrine Board is bracing up preparedness for upcoming Navratras, inclement weather is preventing the authorities not to allow resumption of the pilgrimage.
