A senior BSF officer on Saturday said terrorists were waiting at launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) to infiltrate into the Kashmir Valley. He said security forces were alert and prepared to foil any infiltration attempts across the entire LoC.
Inspector General (IG), BSF Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, said intensified attempts to infiltrate terrorists into the Valley always occur before the onset of winter.
He said, “There are always attempts to infiltrate before snowfall. There are still about two months, and the chances of infiltration are there till November because they know they will have fewer chances for the next six months. So, they always attempt to infiltrate, but because of the alertness of the forces, it is very difficult to infiltrate.”
The terrorists are waiting at the launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) for a chance to infiltrate to this side of the fence.
“Undoubtedly, there is a presence of terrorists across the other side of the LoC opposite our AOR (area of responsibility) in the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors,” he added.
He said that high-tech surveillance equipment was assisting the Army and BSF in dominating the LoC.
“Along with the Army, we are dominating the LoC very well. The security forces have foiled two infiltration attempts so far this year. It is very difficult to infiltrate our AOR because of the alertness with which we perform our duties and the new methodology and surveillance equipment that we have,” he added.
