A spine-chilling video that surfaced on social media five days after the incident has exposed a brutal case of mob lynching in Jharkhand’s Giridih district, sending shockwaves across the state.

The video, dated December 17, shows 30-year-old Kamlesh Singh being mercilessly beaten to death by a group of men in Sirsai Nakitand village under Rajdhanwar police station limits.

The footage captures Singh desperately pleading for his life as he is surrounded and assaulted in full public view. The lynching began when a youth struck Singh’s leg with an iron rod, causing him to fall.

An elderly man then kicked him before at least five others joined the assault, repeatedly beating him with sticks. The attack was so vicious that several sticks snapped under the force of the blows, yet the mob continued the assault until Singh collapsed and died on the spot.

The killing, reportedly triggered by a land dispute, bears all the hallmarks of mob violence. Equally disturbing is the conduct of the crowd present at the scene. None attempted to intervene or rescue the victim.

Instead, several bystanders were seen filming the assault on their mobile phones, turning a gruesome lynching into a spectacle.

Police reached the spot only after the attack had ended and the victim was already dead. Police have registered an FIR against 11 persons, including CPI (ML) leader Kishori Agrawal, though only one accused has been arrested so far.

The circulation of the video on Monday forced swift action from the police administration. Giridih Superintendent of Police constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Directing the SIT to use the viral footage to identify all those involved, the SP has ordered immediate arrests and assured a time-bound investigation. Police officials have stated that none of the perpetrators will be spared.
