The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, announced on Monday that the state's leading health assurance scheme, 'Swasthya Sathi', has achieved a major milestone, recording one crore hospital admissions as of October 31. She highlighted that residents have received cashless medical treatment valued at ₹13,156 crore under the initiative, with the entire cost borne by the state budget.

"Swasthya Sathi'— the all-inclusive, unique health assurance scheme of Government of West Bengal has achieved one crore hospitalisations mark on October 31 2025, where cashless health care benefit of  ₹13,156 crore has been provided to the citizens of WEST BENGAL entirely from the State Budget," Banerjee stated in a post on X.

Emphasising the scheme’s broad coverage, the Chief Minister confirmed that any resident of the state who is not already covered by another state-sponsored health plan is entitled to the 'Swasthya Sathi' benefits. She added that the programme currently covers more than 8.5 crore residents.

The Bengal CM further attributed the scheme's success to a robust IT platform and the system of time-bound payments to partner hospitals, which collectively ensure that beneficiaries receive swift and dependable service delivery.
