A 23-year-old woman has filed a rape complaint against an Agniveer soldier at the University Police Station in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district. According to the complaint, the woman befriended the accused on Instagram about three years ago, after which they began communicating regularly.

She alleged that the two later met at Awadhesh Pratap Singh University in Rewa, where the man allegedly forced himself on her in a rented room and threatened to defame her if she revealed the incident.

The woman, a resident of the Gudh police station area, approached the University Police Station with her mother and lodged the complaint. She stated that she is a student in Rewa and lives in a rented house in the Bodabagh area, which falls under the station’s jurisdiction.

In her statement, she alleged that in August 2023, the accused, a 23-year-old man from Nagod in Satna district, came to Awadhesh Pratap Singh University for some work and asked her to visit his rented room. There, he allegedly raped her and threatened her.

The woman further claimed that when she informed the accused’s father about the incident, he allegedly threatened to kill her. Out of fear, she did not report the matter, after which the accused continued to sexually exploit her.

She also alleged that on December 22, 2025, the accused again threatened her and took her to a hotel in Nagod, Satna, where he allegedly assaulted her.

Fed up with the situation, the woman told her mother and then approached the police to file a complaint. She also claimed that the accused has been serving as an Agniveer soldier in a unit in Punjab for the past six months and demanded strict action against him.

University Police Station in-charge Hitendra Nath Sharma said a case has been registered against the accused under sections related to rape based on the woman’s statement and available evidence.

“The matter is being investigated, and efforts are on to trace the accused,” he said.
