The body of a 30-year-old woman suspected to have been murdered was found in a hotel room. The staff of Khullar Guest House alerted the police after spotting the body, after which a police team reached the hotel and called a forensic unit to conduct a detailed examination of the room.
The body of Veerpal Kaur has been sent to the Civil Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. The forensic team also conducted videography of the room where the body was found.
Based on the statement of Veerpal’s brother Inderjit Singh, a murder case has been registered against the woman’s alleged lover, Gurmeet Singh alias Dharm, for strangling her. Gurmeet is absconding and the police are on the lookout for him.
Veerpal’s family members said she was in an illicit relationship with Gurmeet Singh, a resident of her in-laws’ village, Gawar, which often led to quarrels with her husband.
Veerpal had been living with her parents for the past three months. She left the house on the morning of November 14, saying she was going to her in-laws’ home to collect clothes, but did not return.
