A 25-year-old married woman was reportedly gang-raped inside a moving van in Faridabad, police said on Wednesday. The victim was later thrown onto the road She suffered serious head injuries in the incident.
The incident took place late on Monday night after two men offered the woman a lift while she was waiting for transport. Police official stated that the woman is currently undergoing treatment and is not in a condition to give her statement.
The two accused, who are from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and were living in Faridabad, have been detained, police said.
As per the complaint filed by the woman’s sister, the victim was staying at her parents’ home due to marital issues. On Monday evening, she had gone to visit a friend in Sector 23.
When she was returning home late at night, the woman was offered a lift by the accused. Instead of dropping her at her destination, they drove towards Gurugram, police said.
Police said the woman was raped inside the car as the accused drove around through the night. At around 3 am, the accused threw the woman out of the vehicle near Raja Chowk, leaving her with serious injuries, a police officer said.
The woman managed to call her sister, who reached the spot and took her to Badshah Khan Hospital, police said. Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav said the accused have been arrested and are being questioned. He added that a test identification parade will be conducted soon.
