Six people, including a woman who had accused Haryana BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli and singer Rocky Mittal of rape, have been charged with extortion and criminal intimidation, police said on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Himachal Pradesh police have filed a cancellation report in court regarding the gangrape case against Badoli and Mittal. According to Solan Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh, the report was filed recently as there was no evidence to support the allegations.

Officials said statements from 18 people, including the woman and the accused, were recorded, but contradictions were found in the complainant’s statements. No CCTV footage was found to back her claims.

The rape case was initially registered in December last year after the woman alleged that Badoli and Mittal assaulted her at a hotel in Kasauli.

However, based on a complaint from Mittal, police in Panchkula have now booked six people for extortion, criminal intimidation, and conspiracy.

Mittal, who previously served as chairman of the Haryana government's special publicity cell, said the woman contacted him in September last year. He claimed she and her associate threatened to frame him and Badoli in a "honey trap" case unless they were paid ₹50 lakh to settle the matter.

Mittal also alleged that the accused visited his under-construction house, falsely accusing him of financial fraud and threatening him. He said he had reported these threats to the police online before the rape case was filed.

The original FIR filed by the woman in Himachal Pradesh stated that she was staying at a hotel in Kasauli with her employer and friend when they met Badoli and Mittal on July 3, 2023.

According to her complaint, the two men introduced themselves and later promised to help her get a government job and a role in a music video. She alleged that they forced her to drink alcohol and then raped her.

Following her complaint, the Himachal police registered a case against Badoli and Mittal under sections 376D (gang rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. However, after investigation, the police found no supporting evidence, leading to the cancellation report.
