Youth rapes five-year-old girl in Bilaspur

A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur, police said. After the incident came to light, the girl’s family members and some activists associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad went to the house of the accused and raised slogans, leading to a tense situation in the area.


Angry local residents also allegedly vandalised the accused youth’s house. The situation remained tense for some time before police intervened. On receiving information, the local police reached the spot, and a special police team from Bilaspur was also sent to the area.

 

Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawan said police responded immediately after getting information about the incident. “The entire matter will be investigated, and further legal action will be taken based on the facts that emerge,” he said. He also appealed to the public to maintain peace.

 

According to police sources, the girl’s family members rushed to the scene after learning about the alleged assault and expressed strong anger against the accused youth. Soon, local residents gathered in large numbers, creating a tense atmosphere in the area.

 

The agitated family members and locals protested over the incident, and a commotion continued for some time before the police arrived and began efforts to bring the situation under control and start the investigation.

 

State president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Tushar Dogra, condemned the incident and demanded strict action. He urged the police to conduct a medical examination of the girl and register a case against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
