Kashmir schools reopen after extended summer break

Schools were initially closed on July 6 for nearly two weeks as the Kashmir Valley was reeling under an intense heatwave and unusually hot summer conditions. While the heatwave subsided on July 18, continuous rainfall in the region created flood-like situations, forcing the government to extend the summer holidays until July 26.
