Nestlé India on Friday rejected allegations circulating on social media regarding the presence of infestation in Maggi noodles, stating that laboratory tests and quality checks confirmed that its products meet all food safety and quality standards.
In a clarification submitted to stock exchanges, the FMCG major said it was made aware of the complaint through the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), following concerns raised by an unverified account on the social media platform X.
The company categorically denied the allegations, saying it had not received any sample from the complainant for assessment and had also not been able to contact the individual concerned as the account remained unreachable.
Nestlé India said that, as part of standard procedure, a reference sample from the same batch was sent for testing to an independent FSSAI-notified and NABL-accredited laboratory. The report, it said, confirmed that the sample was free from any infestation.
The company further said it had carried out quality analysis on both batch and market samples, all of which complied with prescribed food safety standards, including the absence of any infestation or contamination.
Nestlé India added that it had already submitted a detailed representation to the competent authorities, including FSSAI, along with quality records, batch and market sample data, and laboratory test reports in response to a fact-finding query.

Reiterating its commitment to food safety, the company said it follows stringent quality control measures across its manufacturing operations and maintains full transparency with regulators.
“We categorically reject allegations circulating on media basis an unverified account regarding the presence of infestation, allegedly on MAGGI noodles,” Nestlé India said in its response to queries raised by the NSE and BSE following a media report.
The company expressed confidence that the facts and evidence would establish the truth of the matter and clear any doubts regarding product quality.
Nestlé India also emphasised that it continues to adhere to strict food safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements in all its production facilities.
The clarification comes amid renewed social media chatter questioning the safety of Maggi noodles, a product that has previously faced regulatory scrutiny in India, though it has since been cleared and reintroduced in the market after compliance with safety standards.
