"To all my family in Canada I apologize for not being there with you all this weekend," he wrote.

British rock singer Yungblud has cancelled his performance at the Cowboys Music Festival, stating that he is currently "working on himself and taking time off in the UK." Hip-hop star Nelly and EDM pioneer Steve Aoki have stepped in to replace him.

The Calgary music festival posted a statement on its Instagram handle announcing that Yungblud would not be playing at the festival's final show slated for Sunday night (July 12), citing mental health and personal reasons.

"Reluctantly, we have made the decision as a team to pull Yungblud from the Cowboys Music Festival in Calgary this Sunday," the artist's management said in a statement to the festival.

"We are sorry for any disappointment this may cause, these are not decisions we take lightly. All other scheduled shows will go ahead as planned."

The singer confirmed the decision, stating that he has returned home to the UK as he needs time off to focus on his mental health. "To all my family in Canada I apologize for not being there with you all this weekend," he wrote. "I'm currently in a place where I'm working on myself and taking time off at home in the U.K. I'm taking this extremely seriously and facing head on what's going on for the good of the long term. I will never take any of this for granted and I will see you all soon. I love you all."

The festival shared well wishes for Yungblud along with a major lineup update, announcing that multi-platinum hip-hop star Nelly and electronic music icon Steve Aoki will step in to replace him.

Nelly is set to bring pure 2000s nostalgia to the rodeo stage with smash hits like "Hot in Herre" and "Dilemma." These iconic chart-toppers famously dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for seven and ten weeks, respectively.

Aoki comes well-prepared for massive crowds, having previously headlined major Ibiza residencies and dominated stages at Coachella and Igloofest Gatineau. His set will likely feature his legendary cake-throwing stunt during the track "Cake Me", a viral, fan-favourite staple of his live shows.

With both powerhouses locked in to headline the final night, Cowboys Music Festival is primed to wrap up its historic 30th anniversary on an absolute high note.

The Cowboys Music Festival is underway, featuring a stacked lineup with The Beaches, Alanis Morissette, and Dominic Fike, all leading up to Sunday night’s grand finale.
