A 35-year-old software engineer at Microsoft Corp has passed away at the company's Silicon Valley campus. Pratik Pandey entered the office in the evening on August 19.
A family member who talked to Microsoft and asked to stay anonymous because of a personal reason said that the person was 19 years old and was found dead early the next morning. The family member said he often worked late at night.
The medical examiner in Santa Clara County hasn't determined the cause of death yet. An announcement for a viewing service in the Bay Area on Thursday says, "A happy person with a bright smile, Pratik enjoyed playing soccer and was a wonderful son and friend." The company declined to comment. A person close to the situation says that Microsoft is still looking into the death.
Pandey worked on Microsoft's Fabric product, which is used for analysing data and competes with companies such as Snowflake Inc. He reported up through Scott Guthrie, the executive vice president who leads the cloud and AI division. Before joining Microsoft in 2020, Pandey had previous jobs at companies like Walmart Inc. and Apple Inc., according to his LinkedIn profile.
