Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for home on Friday after a day-long visit to Italy, where he attended the G7 summit and engaged in bilateral meetings with several world leaders, including British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Pope Francis.

During an address at the Outreach session of the G7 summit in Italy's Apulia region, Modi stressed on the need to end monopolies in technology. He stressed that technology should be harnessed creatively to build a more inclusive society.

PM Modi highlighted India's proactive stance on artificial intelligence, noting that the country is among the first to develop a national strategy on AI.

On the sidelines of the summit, Modi held discussions with various prominent leaders, including US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Macron, British Prime Minister Sunak, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni, Pope Francis, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

This meeting with Macron marked Modi's first official bilateral engagement with an international leader since beginning his third term as Prime Minister earlier this month.

The discussions with Macron and other leaders underscored India's growing role on the global stage and its commitment to collaborating on key international issues.

Italy extended invitations to leaders from 11 developing countries across Africa, South America, and the Indo-Pacific region to participate in the G7 Summit. This inclusivity highlighted the summit's broader agenda of addressing global challenges through diverse international cooperation.
