Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his warm greetings to the people on the momentous occasion of India's 75th Republic Day through a post on 'X,' stating, "Best wishes on the special occasion of the 75th Republic Day. Jai Hind!"

 

India is joyously commemorating its 75th Republic Day today, January 26, marking the historic day when the Constitution came into effect in 1950.

The 75th Republic Day celebrations are set to unfold at the Kartavya Path in the heart of the national capital, featuring an impressive display of the nation's military prowess and rich cultural heritage.

 

The grand event, centred around the theme of showcasing the strength of the nation's women and democratic values, will be graced by French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest.

 

President Droupadi Murmu will lead the nation in observing Republic Day through a 90-minute parade along the ceremonial boulevard, Kartavya Path.

The parade will feature a showcase of indigenous weaponry and military equipment by the armed forces, including missiles, drone jammers, surveillance systems, vehicle-mounted mortars, and BMP-II infantry combat vehicles.

 

In a historic first, an all-women tri-services contingent will be part of the event, and the parade will be initiated by over 100 women musicians playing traditional

 

Indian instruments such as Sankh, Naadswaram, and Nagada, replaced the traditional military bands.

 

The Indian Air Force's fly-past will feature around 15 women pilots representing 'Nari Shakti,' while the contingents of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will comprise exclusively of women personnel.

 

Scheduled to commence at 10:30 am, the Republic Day parade is expected to last around 90 minutes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off the ceremony with a visit to the National War Memorial, paying tribute to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath.

 

Following this, President Murmu and French President Macron will arrive in the 'traditional buggy,' a practice revived after a 40-year hiatus, according to the defence ministry.

 

The proceedings will include the unfurling of the national flag, the national anthem, and a 21-gun salute using indigenous gun systems. Helicopters will shower flower petals on the audience, followed by a band performance and a march past by the combined French Armed Forces contingent.

 

A total of 16 tableaux from states and Union territories, along with nine from central ministries and departments, will roll down Kartavya Path during the parade, representing the diverse cultural and regional richness of the nation.

 

The participating states and Union territories include Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Ladakh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana.
