Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi on Friday strongly criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led administration in the national capital, following a series of bomb threats emailed to over 20 schools across the city. She expressed deep concern over the inability of the authorities to ensure the safety of children, parents, and school staff.

"More than 20 schools have received bomb threats today! Think of the trauma that children, parents and teachers would be going through. BJP controls all 4-engines of governance in Delhi, and is yet not able to provide any safety or security to our children! Shocking," Atishi, the Aam Aadmi Party MLA from the Kalkaji constituency, said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

According to officials, bomb threats were sent via email to 20 schools across Delhi, including Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar. The police and fire services were immediately dispatched to the concerned locations. The Delhi Fire Services confirmed the presence of their team at the spot, and investigations are ongoing. This wave of threats comes just days after a similar scare in the capital, where nearly ten schools and one college reported receiving bomb threats over the course of three days, resulting in evacuations and temporary closures.

The content of the threat emails has raised alarm. According to the police, the sender claimed to have planted several explosive devices—specifically trinitrotoluene (TNT)—inside school classrooms. The letter described the explosives as hidden in black plastic bags and contained chilling language, including violent threats against students and deeply disturbing personal statements.

The email read, “Hello. I am writing to let you know that I have placed several explosive devices (trinitrotoluene) within school classrooms. The explosives are skillfully hidden, in black plastic bags. I will erase every last one of you from this world. Not a single soul will survive. I will gladly laugh when I watch the news, only to see the parents show up at the school and to be greeted by the cold, dismembered bodies of their children.”

The letter continued with disturbing personal statements, revealing the sender’s mental distress and resentment towards psychiatric treatment, stating, “You all deserve to suffer... I truly hate my life, I will commit suicide after the news, will slit my throat and slit my wrists... You brainwash people into thinking psychiatric meds can help them. But they don’t. I am living proof that they do not.”

On Wednesday, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate preemptively announced it would remain closed for the day, following advice from Delhi Police. Other schools that received similar threats include St Thomas School in Dwarka, Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj, and The Mother's International School in Hauz Khas, among others.

St Stephen’s College at Delhi University was also targeted earlier this week. The institution received an email claiming a bomb had been planted in its library. Following standard protocol, the college was evacuated and searched by Delhi Police, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), the Dog Squad, and the Fire Brigade. No suspicious items were found.

Delhi Police confirmed that, apart from St Stephen’s, no other colleges had reported similar threats so far. On Monday, two schools located in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri and Dwarka regions also received bomb threats via emails sent to the Delhi Police. Again, no explosives were found during the combing operations. The police are continuing their investigation into the origin of the emails and the identity of the sender. As of now, no explosives have been recovered from any of the affected sites.
