Two men accused of kidnapping a six-year-old boy from Gwalior were arrested following a brief gunfight with the police in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, an official confirmed on Sunday.
The shocking abduction took place on Thursday morning in Gwalior’s Morar area. The child was on his way to school with his mother when two motorcycle-borne assailants threw chilli powder into her eyes and forcefully took the boy away.
The incident sent shockwaves through the city, prompting an immediate police response. After a 14-hour search operation, the child was found in a village in Morena, bringing relief to his distraught family.
On Saturday night, police received a tip-off that two suspects were spotted near Kotwal Dam, allegedly planning a robbery. When security forces arrived, the accused—Rahul Gurjar (28) and Bunty Gurjar (35), both residents of Morena—opened fire in an attempt to evade capture.
In retaliation, police fired back, injuring both suspects. The duo collapsed during the exchange of gunfire in the Matwasiya police station area and was swiftly taken into custody. They were later admitted to Morena District Hospital for treatment.

Authorities also seized a motorcycle, a revolver, a country-made pistol, and a cache of live and spent bullets from the arrested suspects.
The kidnapped boy is the son of Rahul Gupta, a sugar merchant residing in CP Colony, Morar, Gwalior. His safe return has brought immense relief to the family, but the case has underscored concerns over security in the region.
Further investigations are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects and determine the exact motive behind the abduction.
