A shocking case of student violence has emerged from Bihar’s Rohtas district, where a class X student was shot dead and another injured after they allegedly refused to share their answer sheets during a board exam. The accused, a fellow student, has been detained, and police have recovered a country-made pistol from his possession.
The incident, which has sparked outrage, occurred on Thursday evening when students were returning home after appearing for their class X Social Sciences examination.
According to police reports, the accused had previously requested the victims to share their answer sheets during the Sanskrit exam a day earlier, but they refused. Following this, he allegedly threatened them outside the exam center, leading to a confrontation that was diffused by other students.
However, the situation escalated the next day. As the victims were travelling home in an auto-rickshaw with other students, the accused, along with his friends, allegedly followed them.
Near the Kav River bridge on National Highway 2, they forced the auto to stop and engaged in a scuffle. During the altercation, the accused allegedly fired a shot from a country-made pistol, critically injuring both students.
The injured victims were initially taken to a nearby hospital before being shifted to Narayan Medical College for advanced treatment. Tragically, one of the students succumbed to his injuries, while the other is reported to be out of danger.
