Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasised the importance of health and fitness in shaping a strong society as he urged young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and stay away from drugs.

Speaking at a marathon event in Sonipat, he highlighted how physical fitness contributes to personal well-being and accelerates the state and nation’s progress.

The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from school and college students, young athletes, police personnel, and senior citizens. It was organized in three categories—5 km, 10 km, and 21 km—aimed at promoting sports awareness and mobilising communities against drug addiction.

The chief minister expressed joy at seeing thousands take part, emphasising that such events inspire children and youth while reinforcing positive societal values.

Additionally, gram panchayats and sarpanchs will be actively engaged in the campaign to eradicate the menace from every village. Schools, colleges, and academic institutions have also been integrated into this initiative to educate young minds about the dangers of addiction.

Marking the occasion of Navratri, the chief minister encouraged participants to pledge against drug use. He later honored the marathon winners and administered an anti-drug oath to the youth.

He emphasised that Haryana has been actively promoting fitness activities such as marathons, sports events, yoga sessions, and Raahgiri initiatives as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement. Saini encouraged participants to motivate their families and neighbours to embrace fitness as a daily habit and reaffirmed his government’s focus on public health initiatives.

The marathon was a part of Haryana Uday, a state program launched in June 2023 to foster community welfare and engagement.

The chief minister also promised more such events, including police-public cooperation programs, Raahgiri, cyclothons, sports competitions in crime-prone areas, and de-addiction drives to build a safer and healthier society.

The event saw the presence of BJP state chief Mohan Lal Badoli, Haryana Minister Arvind Sharma, Sonipat MLA Nikhil Madaan, and Sonipat Mayor Rajiv Jain, among other dignitaries.
