JKNC paid tributes to founder Sheikh Abdullah on his death anniv

The Abdullah family paid floral tributes to the national conference founder, who was popularly known as Sher-e-Kashmir, at his mausoleum at Naseembagh in the Hazratbal area.

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Farooq Abdullah arrives to offer prayers at the grave of his father and party founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah on his death anniversary, in Srinagar.


Jammu and Kashmir’s ruling National Conference paid rich tributes to the party founder, Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, on Monday at his graveyard in the Naseembagh, Hazratbal area.


National Conference President Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah were present on Monday to pay rich tributes to the party founder on his 43rd death anniversary.


The Abdullah family paid floral tributes to the national conference founder, who was popularly known as Sher-e-Kashmir, at his mausoleum at Naseembagh in the Hazratbal area. Special prayers were held for the late National Conference leader, who is often credited with turning around the socio-economic conditions of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.

His populist decisions, like allotting the land to Tiller and the right to education, made his stature powerful, and he became the voice of the voiceless in J&K’s struggle against the feudal system ruled by the Dogras. Sheikh Abdullah also played a pivotal role in the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to the Union of India.


Besides Abdullah, Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather, Advisor to Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, party general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar and other leaders were present at the function.


Hundreds of party workers joined the prayers while accompanying Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah to Naseembagh in the morning.
