In a significant breakthrough in curbing the drug menace and dismantling terror networks, the Punjab Police announced the successful busting of a narco-terror module linked to the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

The police have arrested three key operatives from Bihar as they attempted to flee to Nepal. Authorities suspect that this case is connected to the early morning grenade attack at Thakurdwara Temple in Amritsar.

Amritsar Commissioner GPS Bhullar revealed that the police had initially arrested three individuals in Bihar with a substantial quantity of heroin. Upon interrogation and investigation, it was discovered that the entire operation was orchestrated by a man named Karandeep Yadav.

Following this revelation, Karandeep Yadav was apprehended along with two other accomplices, Sajan Singh and Mukesh Kumar Yadav. According to Commissioner Bhullar, these individuals have established links with Babbar Khalsa, and their arrest is expected to uncover further crucial details.

The forensic team is analyzing the evidence, and their report will provide additional insights into the case.

The Commissioner also emphasised that Pakistani smugglers and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) are under immense pressure due to Punjab's intensified crackdown on drugs. He pointed out that previous attempts by these elements to create instability had been thwarted by the Punjab Police.

Given that the accused hail from the area where the grenade attack at Thakurdwara Temple took place, authorities strongly suspect a connection between the two incidents. The three accused were taken into custody on Friday afternoon, just hours before the grenade attack occurred in Khandwala, Amritsar.

Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) confirmed the breakthrough in a post on social media platform X, stating that the Amritsar Commissionerate Police, in an intelligence-based operation, successfully nabbed three key operatives from Bihar’s Kumarkhand, Madhepura police station jurisdiction while they were trying to escape to Nepal.

The arrested individuals had previously facilitated the delivery of grenades and firearms, which were recovered in a recent police operation.

The DGP further disclosed that the accused were residents of Amritsar’s Khandwala and Chehartta areas and were being transported back to Punjab for further interrogation. He reiterated Punjab Police’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the state.

Commissioner Bhullar also suggested that Pakistan's ISI played a role in the grenade attack. He stated that the police received intelligence at approximately 2 a.m. and immediately reached the site of the explosion.

A forensic team was summoned, and extensive investigations, including reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to local witnesses, were conducted. He expressed concerns that Pakistan’s intelligence agency continues to lure youth into disruptive activities in Punjab and assured that law enforcement agencies would trace the perpetrators and take stringent action against them.

He further issued a stern warning to the youth, urging them not to jeopardize their future by getting involved in such unlawful activities, while affirming that the authorities are determined to apprehend all those responsible for the attack.
