Ranchi student Bhavya Ranjan topped the CBSE Class 12 Arts stream nationally with 99.8% and plans to prepare for the UPSC exam.

Bhavya Ranjan, a student of Oxford Public School, Ranchi, has secured the top position nationally in the CBSE Class 12 Arts stream with an outstanding score of 99.8 per cent. Bhavya obtained full marks in English, History, Political Science, and Painting, while she scored 99 in Economics, missing a perfect score by just one mark.

Expressing her happiness, Bhavya said she had expected good marks but never imagined becoming the national topper. She scored an impressive 499 out of 500 marks in the examination.

Speaking about her future plans, she said she intends to pursue higher studies in History and simultaneously prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

Bhavya attributed her success to the unwavering support and mentorship of her teachers. She particularly praised the school’s “Target 100 Group,” an academic initiative introduced under the guidance of Academic Director Dr Simi Mehta.

The programme focused on helping meritorious students achieve perfect scores through rigorous preparation and continuous practice. Under the initiative, students were required to solve 100 questions daily, while teachers ensured prompt support whenever difficulties arose.

According to Bhavya, the intensive practice sessions and regular guidance strengthened her confidence and made exam preparation smoother.

Bhavya’s mother, Vicky Gandhi, who teaches at the school, and her father, Rajiv Ranjan, a businessman, expressed immense joy over their daughter’s achievement. Her parents said Bhavya had always been sincere, disciplined and committed to academics.

They revealed that she devoted nearly 10 to 12 hours every day to studies both at home and in school.

Rajiv Ranjan stressed the importance of parents spending quality time with their children and encouraging them with the right environment to help them succeed in every field.

Her mother added that Bhavya had consistently excelled in academics since childhood and remained a topper throughout her school life from Class 1 to Class 12.
