Avni believes maintaining a balance between academics and personal life is equally important.

Eighteen-year-old Avni Kejriwal of Delhi Public School (DPS), Ranchi, has secured the top rank nationally in the CBSE Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) 2025-26 by scoring a flawless 500 out of 500 marks in commerce stream. Reflecting on her preparation strategy, Avni said consistency played a crucial role in her success. She emphasised avoiding last-minute study and making extensive use of previous years’ question papers, particularly in Accountancy and Applied Mathematics, where repeated patterns proved beneficial.

Interestingly, when the results were first announced in April, Avni had scored 95.2 per cent, including full marks in Accountancy, Applied Mathematics and Economics. Unsatisfied with her marks in English and Business Studies, she opted for re-evaluation after reviewing the digitally marked answer sheets. The decision ultimately led to a perfect score.

Avni believes maintaining a balance between academics and personal life is equally important. Despite her studies, she continued spending time with friends, listening to music and sketching, which she considers essential for staying refreshed and motivated.

DPS Ranchi Principal Dr Jaya Chauhan congratulated the student, calling the feat a matter of immense pride for the school and a reflection of the institution’s commitment to excellence. She also praised Avni’s dedication and wished her success in future endeavours.

Apart from academics, Avni enjoys pop music and basketball. In 2025, she won third prize in India Post’s National Letter Writing Competition on the theme “Importance of Letter Writing in the Digital Age.”

A resident of Ratu Road, Ranchi, Avni is the daughter of businessman Mitesh Kejriwal and homemaker Poonam Kejriwal. She credited her parents and teachers for their constant encouragement and support, noting that they never pressured her over marks and fully backed her decision to seek re-evaluation.

Looking ahead, Avni plans to pursue a degree in Economics or Business Administration from a premier institution and hopes to establish her own business in the future. She says she is eager to step out of her comfort zone and embrace new experiences and opportunities.
