An 18-year-old student was allegedly shot dead by his older brother on Thursday at their home in the Nehru Nagar area of southeast Delhi, police reported.
The brother, Abhishek Aman, who fired the gun, quickly took his injured sibling, Akshay Kashyap, to Safdarjung Hospital before fleeing the scene. Abhishek, who has a criminal history, was later caught by the police.
The hospital contacted the police at 6:10 am, informing them of the gunshot injury. A team from Lajpat Nagar Police Station was sent to the hospital.
A police officer said, “The report said Akshay was brought in by his brother with a gunshot wound and later died during treatment.”
According to the police, around 1:30 am on Thursday, 26-year-old Abhishek shot Akshay in the head during an argument. The bullet also grazed their mother, Mohini's forehead, but she only suffered minor injuries.

Abhishek is known to police for his criminal activities, with four cases registered against him. He has been marked as a “Bad Character” at Lajpat Nagar Police Station.
During questioning, Abhishek admitted to the crime, explaining that it happened during a fight. The police have recovered the weapon—a pistol with live bullets and a magazine. A murder case has been filed against Abhishek.
The police also revealed that Akshay was a student, and their father, Arun Kumar, runs a home-cooked food tiffin service. Their mother, Mohini, is a homemaker.
