Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Sunday that his government has successfully implemented over 70% of the promises made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the 2022 assembly elections and assured that the remaining commitments would be fulfilled before the next elections.

Speaking at an event commemorating the completion of three years of his government's second term, Dhami emphasised that the BJP remains accountable to the public by presenting its performance report annually. He contrasted this with the Congress, which he claimed only engages with the public during election campaigns and then neglects them for the next five years.

"We have implemented more than 70% of the commitments outlined in our vision document released in 2022 within just three years. With your continued support, we will fulfill the remaining promises before the next elections," Dhami stated.

Acknowledging the people's mandate in electing the BJP for a second consecutive term, the Chief Minister asserted that his government has honored their trust. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, he highlighted significant improvements in infrastructure across various sectors, including education, healthcare, transportation, and air connectivity.

Dhami pointed out that over the last three years, his government has introduced more than 30 policies across multiple sectors, positioning Uttarakhand as a hub for religious tourism, adventure tourism, wellness tourism, and a preferred destination for sports and weddings.

He specifically mentioned key infrastructure projects such as the Delhi-Dehradun Elevated Road, the Rishikesh-Karnprayag Rail Project, the Chardham All-Weather Road, and the UDAN Yojana.

Among the fulfilled promises, Dhami listed the provision of three free gas cylinders annually for Antyodaya families, reservation benefits for participants in the statehood agitation, old-age pensions for elderly couples, the restoration of sports quota in government jobs, and the introduction of 207 types of health checkups under various healthcare schemes.

The Chief Minister further noted that NITI Aayog has ranked Uttarakhand first in achieving sustainable development goals. Additionally, the state government has outperformed the national average by reducing the unemployment rate by 4.4%. He also stated that the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and per capita income have shown steady growth.

Highlighting a major legislative achievement, Dhami said that his government successfully implemented the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), a commitment made during the assembly elections. Uttarakhand became the first state in independent India to enact a uniform law applicable to all citizens, effective from January 27.

He claimed that the implementation of the UCC has sparked nationwide enthusiasm and will particularly benefit Muslim women by protecting them from oppressive practices.

Dhami also emphasised the enactment of the country’s strictest anti-copying law to ensure fair recruitment processes. "In the last three years, over 20,000 youths have secured government jobs, with no legal disputes or irregularities in the recruitment process," he added.

Addressing concerns about demographic changes in the state due to past government policies, Dhami said his administration has taken strong measures to counter threats such as "love jihad," "land jihad," and "spit jihad." He stressed that stringent land laws have been enacted to preserve Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage and prevent land mafias from encroaching on properties.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the people for supporting the BJP in municipal elections, particularly in Dehradun. He announced that development projects worth Rs 1,400 crore are underway to modernise the city. Among the key initiatives is the construction of India’s fifth science city in Dehradun, alongside the completion of a 300-bed cancer hospital in Harrawala.

Dhami outlined his vision of transforming Dehradun into a model city that exemplifies development, environmental conservation, and advanced public amenities.

To support young aspirants preparing for competitive examinations, he announced financial assistance and the establishment of a dedicated training platform. A high-level committee will be formed to determine the rules and funding for this initiative.

Additionally, Dhami assured that a comprehensive policy would soon be introduced to regularize Upanal and contractual workers in the state. He also declared that government projects valued up to Rs 10 crore would be exclusively awarded to local contractors, thereby boosting local businesses and employment opportunities.

To further promote Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage and tourism, Dhami launched the Uttarakhand Content Creator Competition. This initiative aims to showcase the state’s rich traditions and natural beauty through digital storytelling and social media engagement.

He concluded by referencing Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to Uttarkashi, where he encouraged the state government to focus on promoting perennial tourism, ensuring that Uttarakhand continues to be a top travel destination throughout the year.
