Pakistan's Ishaq Dar rejected India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, saying the 1960 pact remains valid, binding and legally operative.

“No party can unilaterally suspend or terminate its obligations under a treaty that contains no such provision,” Dar claimed while addressing a seminar on the Indus Waters Treaty in Islamabad, local media reported.

One woman died and over 20 people were injured after a naphtha pipeline fire at Haldia Petrochemicals in West Bengal. Probe into the cause is underway.

"Manu Bibi, wife of Robaiyul of Bhabanipur, succumbed to her burn injuries in the hospital. The condition of four others is also very critical. Three persons were discharged after receiving preliminary treatment," the IPS officer said.

An 11-year-old student died and four others were injured after a peepal tree uprooted in heavy rain fell on a school bus in Mumbai's Chembur.

According to the hospital's medical officer, four of the injured students were in stable condition, while 11-year-old Vihan Srivastava, who had sustained serious injuries, was declared dead around 4.30 pm.

General Seth is an accomplished military officer with the rare distinction of heading two operational Army commands along the western front.
